HRT dose at right level?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Its been 13 weeks since my op and cannot believe how the time has flown. I'm due back to work Monday but really do not want to go, i ve got used to being at home and love it.

Still not sure if my HRT is correct dose, still having hot flushes day and night, but my heart palpitations have stopped. I'm also quite dry down below too.  Got appointment with my Gyno tomorrow, suppose it will be my last then to docs friday to check how i'm doing on my HRT, although i think he would rather me stay at the lowest dosage but i'm just not so sure. Is anybody taking HRT and stayed at the lowest dose? Or have you upped the amount? Any info would help

Hi, I am on patches. Started on 25 by gp but then consultant said waste of time as not high enough. Went up to 50 then he said could go up to 75 and see how I felt. He said it is a difficult thing to get right because some of it really subjective and more to do with a well being issue, not specific symptom improvement but generally feeling better in yourself. I would say that I am now feeling fairly back to my old self and I am 4 and half months post op. Went back to work about 6 weeks ago on phased return and I only work 2 days but did shorter days and have taken some leave. First few weeks were really hard work and felt so shattered . Also found I had low ferritin and very low vitamin d levels. Been on high dose vit d for 3 weeks and that has helped too. Still not 100 percent but been doing lot in garden, back to doing all housework and looking after 2 children so fairly pleased with things now. I was very apprehensive about work as still felt rubbish when had to go back and it doesn't take long to get used to being at home full time! But had to be done , but I know I wouldn't have coped going straight back to my normal role and have only managed as occupational health have been very good. I would def ask about hrt if you are still not feeling right. As I am now, I am starting to feel better than before op as no more periods, pmt or pain from fibroid. Good luck .

Thanks for that, I do feel ok in myself except for when I get the flushes and then they make me feel on fire. I m no longer getting breast pain like I used to before I had the op, and I never did have a bleed as such as my cervix was fused shut due to endo ablation. So think I may ask for the 50 mg but don't think my doc will be wiling x

I had everything taken away last November & I started hrt about 10 weeks ago , I'm on tablets  Premarin 0.625 mg took about a month to see effects but I'm feeling a lot better now , flushes are under control & my head feels like it belongs to me  again , no pain in my joints now but my sleeping is still a little mixed up but def better than it was , I'm just 49 and really did not want to take hrt but I could not cope any longer & I'm glad I'm on it .x
