hrt misery

Posted , 11 users are following.

Ive been taking hrt (elleste duet combi) for just over 2 weeks but I have started to feel very low, miserable, grouchy and short tempered. I am tempted to stop the hrt but maybe i should persevere for a bit longer as i dont feel that i have given it enough time. On the other hand I hate feeling so down and as if I'm going to blow a fuse any second. Any advice welcome.

Rosie (I'm sure you're not really Dozy) I'm sure the way you're feeling is due to the elleste. It is one if the side effects and I'm not sure it will take for you to feel any better if at all. I would see your doctor and discuss your options.

There are other options like cream, patches, and lots of other HRT's you can try. It is a bit of a trial and error. Talk to your doctor and switch to something that will be more suitable for you. You will find the right one.

Could be the hormones going into your body making you feel like that. I would go and speak with your gp for reasurance  will make you decide if its right for you. I  believe if in dought ask the doctor.

Hi, there are many different types of HRT some stronger than others and think that you should either change the type of HRT (there are patches as well) or go to see a specialist. I personally did not suffer these symptons.

When I first started taking HRT, the depression I experienced turned out, at different times, to be caused by either progesterone or low testosterone.

Since having a hysterectomy, I no longer need progesterone, which is great 'cos I had such terrible problems when I used it.

I use testosterone on alternate days - this really helps my mood, and also sorts out my chronic headaches. If I forget for a couple of days, I can feel the   depression creeping in again, and headaches starting up.

I've had lots of problems with HRT and have tried lots of different forms of HRT - they do seem to have different sets of 'side effects', for me anyhow. Currently I have an estrogen implant, use testosterone on alternate days and use vagifem regularly. I'm trying to figure out whether my estro is still a bit low, or whether my fluctuating hypo-thyroid is causing leg cramps/ tremors etc.

Hi, I am so glad you have put this post on because I feel the same.  I have been on Elleste Duet 1 mg for 2 months now and they have been great for getting rid of hot flushes, lack of sleep etc but when I start taking the green tablets I suffer with extreme PMT and are so bad tempered.  Also I haven't had a bleed for 10 months but for the last 2 months when I finish the green tablets I have a period.  I would like to change tablets does anyone have any recommendations?

Hi I used to suffer terrible side effects on contraceptives so I was hesitatant about Hrt after my hysto. But I found premarin and elleste duo OK but not enough as I have Vaginal Atrophy. I have now changed to Tibolone as they are stronger and help with my sex drive which declined.

    Hi

I have been also taking Elleste duet combo for four weeks now, just finished my first packet. My hot flushes have gone, not had one for a week now. I sleep really well, less tired these days. I had a breakthrough bleed just before I completed the green pills and then had a period with serious bloating! My stomach is normally flat and it doubled in size for two days now better and period gone. Back to your point though yesterday which was last day of a green tablet I was in such a bad mood, felt angry and emotional but better today. My GP warned me about this and said it would all settle down after three months so will keep going. Hope that is useful
