HRT Patches and Endo - advice please

Hi

Many years (and many procedures!) ago I was diagnosed with endo - my consultant said it was "off the scale".

?I had a full hysterectomy and have been on tibilone since - no endo symptoms but I have now been diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis which I am struggling to manage.

My GP is now suggesting HRT patches but seems vague as to the effect on the endometriosis.  (?I am concerned because when I had my hysterectomy I was told HRT could stimulate the endometriosis tissue which remains in my body and this is why I was given tibilone.

Does anyone have experience of HRT patches with this condition?

?Many Thanks

I had a total hysterectomy at age 27 back in '82 & went on HRT right away. By age 51 I began tapering down the dose & was taking 12mg of estrogen 2 or 3 times weekly.

At 54, I got sick & had surgery for what docs thought was diverticulitis but which turned out to be endometriosis, zero diverticulitis. None of us knew that was possible, "us" being me plus my docs & surgeon. Removed about 8 inches of my colon.

My gp absolutely didn't believe i was on enough hormones to cause endo, and it's kinda weird that it reared its head after I started tapering off HRT. A friend did some online research & said that there were some scientists who believed that endo can manufacture the hormones it needs if it can't get them from ovaries or pills. Me, I do not know. Can't say one way or the other just from my experience.

      Hi

Thank you so much for your response - I had a follow up appointment with my GP yesterday and went over my concerns - I mentioned your experience and I will now be referred to the Gyny department to review this and my other (possibly) hormone (or lack of hormone !) related conditions.

      Best wishes
