HRT PATCHES DO NOT STICK AT TIMES

HI  my fellow HRT patchers. I originally started off using 2 patches a week they were called  Evorel Conti, I followed the instructions for me I find they stick better to the outer part of my thigh. I went back to tell my GP they really were not sticking especially after a shower, and i do not have my water too hot. My GP then put me on 1 patch a week called FEMSEVEN CONTI. I tried these and found out that they did not stick that well either. I came across a forum that talked about these  very sticky seathrough covers called TEGADERM FILM I  got them from Amazon. I just wanted to say that these are fantastic they go over the top of the patch so one is able to see the patch though them,   and they stay on in the shower, after the shower and for days. I went to see my GP  spoke to her about these TEGADERM clear  covers wanted to see if it was ok to wear them over the top. My GP confirmed that is was ok to wear them over the top. I ordered 20 at first to see how I got on with them, but are just great. I did not know about these as I call them sticky covers. The material reminded me of what I had around my dressing after I had hip surgery, they are Waterproof they are just great and do the job. I do not want to go into too much HRT symptoms that we all have, but theses HRT patches have completely changed my life, I hardly have my fan on beside me now when it was on and off all night long. I hope this helps anyone looking for a solution to keep these patches on. I could not believe how many women were going through the same trials as myself. If you are unsure have a chat with your GP. Hope all is well. Happy Monday evening one and all x

    Hello

Very informative post which I know will help lots of ladies.  It really illustrates how we are all individuals!  I was on Fem 7 for 6 months and I couldn't get them to stick for more than 3-4 days.  Due to black and purple bruising I had to stop them and I am now on Evorel Conti.  Believe it or not I can't get the ruddy things off!  They leave a black square of glue and I really have to pick at it for ages to remove it!

I am wondering about trying another type as I am not sure they are right for me as I have had some real low moods since starting it.

Anyway good luck everyone and happy Daywalker they are working so well for you x

      Hi daisylady

I use an oil based eye makeup remover to clean the black glue of my skin. I think baby oil would work too. Some on here say use surgical spirit.

Hope this helps a bit x

What a fabulous idea!  Thank you daywalker.  I have used those tegaderm waterproof patches before on dressings that I had to keep dry.  I was using a micropore border around my patches at times, but it was irritating. I found the patches came off easily if I put them on a place where there is a fat roll when I sit down.  That seems to make the patch lift off easily, so lower abdomen or top of buttocks were best.  That is why you found upper thigh better - usually no rolls of fat there.  Except I would probably end off tearing it off when I was undressing.

I am hoping to go back on to implants soon, but in the meantime I will buy some tegaderm.  I have usually used only smaller tegaderms, so I have to make sure I get a larger size.

Hi Sheryl137514 that is a mouthful lol, 7xm 6cm that is the size of Tegaderm you will need from Amazon 20 in a packet,  My square patched used to leave a thick layer of glue, I just took it off whilst having a shower then with the water the glue comes off easier. Do not buy them too big just stick to the size I gave you, it goes over the square patches and the other ones. My GP could not give me HRT pills as they may cause one to have blood clots. If I had not read a forum a while ago then I would not even know about them, I did not have an Allergic reaction to them so they work for me.   x Let me know how you get on with them x

Sheryl will do smile.  The number is what the forum gave me and I did not change it (did not know I could).  As I am in Australia, I stopped buying from Amazon because our $ became too low, plus postage.  I will just have to get them from a discount pharmacy.

      Thanks for the info.
