HRT tapering

Hi, On advice from my Doctor, (I am 65 soon and been on Evorel Conti for 13 years) I have started to wean myself off my patch, I would ideally like it to take about a year, so as slowly as possible. I had some spotting this morning ( a weeks after starting my tapering) is this normal when stopping HRT?

I have been weaning off HRT tablets since April, I take one every other day.  I haven't had any bleeding so far, but I have read that it is possible.  Best of Luck to you.

I have been weaning myself off for the last 3 month, but I haven't experienced spotting. I am 64 years old, been on a HRT tablet for 21-22 years. Have tried to wean myself off a number off times, but the hot flushes always come back. I am having the same problem again, my doctor said, my body is obviously not ready to come off HRT, so I am back again :-(

Well my story is a bit different! I'm 47. Menopause started Aug. 2014. I was 46. Wasn't diagnosed until Nov 2014. Started Bio-identical hormone replace therapy. Had saliva tested. Showed low progesterone and low estrogen. Testosterone levels were ok. Vaginal suppositories.40mg progesterone,0.2-estriol,0.05 estriodol. Made by Compounding pharmacy.Started them in end of Nov. Then in Feb of 2015, started having upper right quadrant pain off and on.Started to forget taking hormone at night. All in all probably forgot mnth and half of our together. Started more regularly taking in May. Put reminder notes! So turns out I had to get gallbladder and appendix removed in June of 2015. Well I'm July I started having ovulation pain. At first I didn't remember the feeling cause it had been 11 mnths since last ovulation. But,yep ovaries hurt. Them in 2 wks(like I always had done!)had a full blown period! Tampon an pad. Bled for 6 days. Freaking me out. Called Compounding pharmacist, she said prob Fr missing all those days. Take regularly. So started regularly taking. 21 days later bled 3 days. No ovulation pain. Called again. She said must be to much estrogen. Skip Sunday's. So skipped Sunday's. Then about 5 WKS later back started hurting an pain in lower abdomen. Like knife jabbing. Next day started bleeding again! 6 days. No ovulation pain with this one. So I called Ob./Gyn an wk ago had to have endometrial biopsies In office to check to see if it's uterine cancer. It HURT SO BAD! I was telling out.I couldn't help it. No warning it was going to be excruciating pain.3 biopsies.won't know till sometime this wk. Prayers please. But I think it was Fr(the bleeding)the hormones an messing up taking them. My symptoms before finding out my FSH was 111, were depression and anxiety and palpitations. Palpitations went away after 1 month on hormones. But still dealing with depression and anxiety. Have tried Zoloft and Lexapro. No go. So I have read about Curcumin a by product of tumeric for depression. Read about it. Its always good to try natural things. Antidepressants have so many horrible sideffects. Going back to your situation, make sure Dr knows your sporting. If continued ask about uterinecancer an the spotting. Press the subject of biopsies of Dr blows it off, especially if any family history or if you have ever had endometriosis. Hormones suck. Menopause sucks except no periods. Goodluck an Lord bless Fr Tx in USA.
