Hi Stacey. To be honest, I've had my HS for a few years or so now and I've never had the red rings as you describe with any of my flare ups. I've also never seen remission either. Everyone's skin is different though. You could just have sensitive skin and sometimes when skin has a wound of any kind it can show redness around the area that's bothered, meaning your skin is just reacting to the fact of the wound or what have you being there. It wouldn't hurt to ask the dermatologist about it just in case unless you already have...just to make sure it's nothing. My bumps weren't always the same size they did vary in size. I had one a couple of months ago that was the size of a golf ball in my right armpit cuz that's where my HS if the worse (armpits.) It was beyond painful. I felt like an invalid cuz I couldn't do a thing while I had that. It was awful. I do think that was the biggest one I've had so far...it is depressing but you've just gotta hang in there. I just said to another person in this discussion forum that had a nickname HS.Warrior that I loved that nickname she chose cuz we all are HS warriors. This is a terrible disease and having to deal with it on a regular basis in any way, shape or form makes us a warrior. Stay strong. Try to keep your chin up. You're not alone that's for sure. Good luck and wish you well.

I've been having HS since I was 19 and I'm 30 now. I know how you feel, do you have a PCP or a dermatologist? If so just go see better safe than sorry. Don't be down your still alive. ??
