So good you're willing to do it now. For me it's nightshades, the big number one is potato, then paprika, and the rest of them I avoid also. I have to avoid curries because I can't be sure what chilli or paprika or spices are in the.

I have some old sores and they get red and inflamed if I slip up, but ease again within a few says to a week. It's become really easy for me to see what affects me as the symptoms appear 12-24 hrs after the slip up.

If I ate a bowl of hot fries I will have problems for two weeks and if I ate more potato in that time I'd never know what was perpetuating it. You probably have to go three months before you get confidence it's working for you.

I also advocate probiotics as the issue seems to come down to our gut.

Look up autoimmune diets. The safe foods for a few months are chicken, rice, vegetables (but not nightshades).

Avoid nuts and dairy before reintroducing them later. I find they're more acne related than HS for me.

    Hi Lady,

Since I've been on the Atkins diet, around 9-10 weeks now, I haven't had a single flare up. I've been cutting out carbs so wheat, rice, potatoes etc, and high sugar foods. It is different for everyone though. I was in the middle of a flare up when I started it, so maybe a good place to start? I've got a feeling my trigger is nightshades combined with a sprinkling of stress :-/

    Best of luck
