HSV-2

I was seeing a guy for 1 and a half month. He texted me saying he is positive for HSV-2. I went to my gynecologist and talked to her about it, she said it is possible i didn't get it since he didn't have an outbreak when we had sex. I tested myself and got a positive result today. They told me to come in again to make sure it's positive. I waited almost a month to get tested and they told me in order to do that i need to have an outbreak otherwise it will come out negative either way. I don't have any symptoms and i feel completely fine. Is it possible it's a false positive?

90 days and your blood test will be 75-85% accurate.
if you want a test to be run and seek care a physician is legally allowed to grant your wish. the cdc does jot recommend testing due ti the stigma and negative mental health that comes along with a diagnoses. if you want to get tested ask for a IGG and a IGM blood test. if you get sores again take pictures and try to get into the doc so they can take a culture and test it. A culture is a swab test. if your doc wont test you most planned parent hoods offer testing and so do local state health agencies. No one can tell you what you have besides a test.
