HSV exposure

Just looking for some input.

I had sex with someone HSV2 positive about 10 times. 7 times protected. He never had symptoms, an outbreak, or a positive result. He contacted me three weeks ago to tell me he was HSV2 positive still with no symptoms/outbreaks.

Am i pretty much guaranteed to have this? Its been 7 weeks since exposure and no symptoms for me. I just took a blood test at 6, awaiting results, and ill go back in another 7-8 weeks. Any advice for the waiting period? How do i treat my sex life?

I'm just curious how he has hsv2 with no positive result. did he end up having an outbreak or something with a pos swab. I'm not sure how you guys relationship is but maybe he's just scarring u. also if you're hsv1 negative you'd of had symptoms by now. If he truly has it and all this time u have no symptoms u may be in the clear. your test u did is a baseline and retest in about 16 weeks to be sure. it can take that long for antibodies to show up on a bloodtest.

He went in for complete STI testing including HSV IGG. he was positive for hsv2. He was neg for HsV1.

Oh I got you. With no symptoms chances are he wasn't shedding but that don't mean nothing really. regardless u should wait 16 wks for highest accuracy because the results you'll soon receive are a baseline on your status of now. without hsv1 he should of had symptoms (maybe he did and brushed an off to something else) but then again it all depends. I'm in a similar predicament and slept with a girl that also tested pos. I'm going on a year with neg results for hsv2. I also did the western blot at 8 months. I'm doing it again for my own peice of mind. they say it looks for the whole immune response to hsv and is 99 percent accurate after 12 wks. If you're in the usa look into it. basically what I'm trying to say is I'm an example of it not being easily transmitted. I know what it can do to your mental state so DO NOT READ ON GOOGLE. just wait it out and retest at 16 wks. without symptoms you're most likely in the clear. it's 4 to 20 days I believe before symptoms will occur. the fact u know u was exposed (like me ) chances are you'll notice everything downthere. the time passed so far is dad in your favor

to clarify, he had testing after us and thats when he said he came up positive for HsV2. He went in for complete STI SCREENING because he said it had been a bit. I RECEIVED testing right before him and was negative for everything.

id say your fine! maybe wait a few weeks and get tested yourself!

if he is asymptomatic the only way youd get it would be through shedding and this only happens about 30-45 approx in the year!
