HSV IgM Results

i took a blood test about two weeks after an incident of which i believe i could have contracted herpes. My lips tingled a bit but no sores have ever appeared anywhere. doctor said it was likely too early to detect, but wanted to help me, bc i've been worried sick about it, so we took test.

4 days later, results come in and negative IgG. Then 3 days later, i get a message about negative IgM. but then about two days after that, I get another message that says my results to IgM antibody were "weakly positive" and it's "POSSIBLE" i could have HSV but to take a test again in 6 weeks.

i just want to know, what are my chances of not having it here? what i really need to know is, can IgM antibodies result in positive, but it not be herpes? **do they form in response to any other sort of infections or just herpes? **

(i do have a yeast infection now if that means anything...)

Thanks:)

actually one reason igm isnt reliable is because its been known to pick up all strands of the virus including chickenpox and shingles so if no sores were present your best bet is to retest igg a few months after exposure

take an igg test 3months after exposure to get accurate result

i heard theirs a 30 percent chance that the igg blood test will fail to detect hsv1 where as hsv2 is highly accurate with an 8 percent chance of failing

not every time...the test can be repeated by the 4th month to make sure
