HSV or just a sports rash?

I've had this rash on my groin area for a while, but it does not extend to my genitals, just the surrounding area. I had protected sex with a new partner a couple months ago, and got a BJ from her once. She told me she was clean. Haven't been active since then.

I'm very athletic, and therefore sweat a lot, so I just assumed it was a sports rash. I met someone, and things are going well, but now I'm embarrassed by the rash, and worried it could be an std or something.

Its hard to tell from the picture. They could have been outbreaks that have healed, unless its always looked like this (in which case i dont think its HSV).

Condoms do not prevent herpes and you can get it from receiving oral.

HSV isnt limited to the region of contact but can appear basically anywhere there are nerves.

HSV is NOT tested for on your routine STD/STI tests, which very few people are aware of. So they think by getting all negative, theyve been tested for it and dont have it.

80% of the population has herpes, 80% of them dont even know it. So its very possible she thought she was clean.

Its also possible someone else gave it to you and youve been asymptomatic (which again MANY people are, or have such mild symptoms they think its nothing).

Your best bet is to wait 4 months then request an IGG type blood test, its the most accurate. Doing it before 4 months can result in a false negative since it tests the blood for antibodies, not the actual virus and that takes time to build up.

Swabbing after its been a bit and theyve scabbed over will almost definitely give you a negative (usually 72 hours is the limit).

That's some useful information to know. My rash has pretty much looked the same, more or less. photos are probably when it was at it's worse. I've been treating it with an antifungal spray, and it's still early to tell, but I do think it looks like it's clearing up slowly.

At the 4 month mark, I will ask for the test you recommended, just to be sure.

      Thanks!

for me this looks moez like a skin condition rather than hsv,how this rash is changing?

It hasn't really been changing much at all. I mean, just spread over a slightly wider area than it started at, and my skin got irritated when I first started treating it with a cream, but has gotten better when I switched to a spray. But it hasn't really looked any different than in the photos.
