Hsv1

I was diagnosed with hsv1 3 months ago with a swab. Absolutely devastated by this and have not come to terms with it at all. I haven't had any further outbreak as far as I know(nothing like the first). If stress brings them on then I'm surprised I've not had it constantly. It's the first and last thing I think of. I just wanted an idea of how others are coping/outbreaks etc... I've been told to move on its a cold sore...hsv1 is less recurring if at all after first outbreak... Is this true? But easier said than done. Any help would be great...

I got my official diagnosis last Monday. It sucks bad. I'm still dealing w it too. Right now I am at the F it stage. Someone will love me for who I am and if not that's ok too because I love me. Sounds dumb but so true. I have a loving family and support system. It is a very heavy hit tho. I was infected in January. I got physically sick, flu like headaches.... all other symptoms besides an actual OB so it took forever for docs to diagnosis me. I practically begged for a blood test after 3 month bcuz I knew something was happening to my body.

It sucks for sure. I couldn't agree w ya more. But it's not all we are.

Mt out breaks happen only a couple times a year. I have come to terms with having it now. Obviously with having it for awhile now but it's the dating thing that has me most concerned now.

Hi how long have you had it? Do you think having 1 or 2 makes a difference in outbreaks?

I have had it for 17 years. The guy who gave it to me fathered all of my kids. I am not sure the difference actually.

So sorry to hear you feel this way. I also have hsv 1. It was really devistating to find out i had it i went in to PPH thinking i had a UTI. Never thought i would catch somethibg like this.

But in all honesty i came to terms with it i wanna say a few days after my diagnosis. Im not going to say i was completley fine right away. But i realized it wasnt the end of the world. This is back in january of this year, i do think about it regularly but not every day (havent had an OB since my first) . The truth is we are lucky to only have hsv 1 compared to hsv 2. I think the reason we have such a negative outlook on this is because of the negative stigma that herpes has. It really isnt as bad as it seems especially after you do your research on it, people with genital type 1 rarely have OB and dont really shed at all...you may never even experience an outbreak again.

I know its still something that is hard to come to terms with but you can live a normal healthy life! And this also includes a normal healthy sex life too!

Do you have any support from friends or family?

Hsv orally ? Or genitally ?

You just get them on your mouth then that isn't too much to worry about . It all comes and goes ...

    The outbreaks aren't serve .

I have type 2 genitally and me personally I feel like this is the worse kind you can have . I had my first outbreak which was one of the most painful things I've ever been in & now I can get a reoccurennce every now and then., I learned as long as you keep it moist it's pretty fine A&D ointment and Vaseline is my best friend .

Do you know who you got the virus from ? Have you talked to them ?
