just tested positive for genital HSV1....what is the difference between that and type 2 besides the fact that 1 is typically oral and 2 is usually genitals.
Also, does this mean my partner cheated on me and passed this on to me?

hsv1 doesnt really like the genital area prefers the oral area. if your partner gives you oral and has hsv1 too that could be how you got it. or if you received oral from anyone with the hsv1 virus that would be how you got it. your partner may have kissed someone else with the virus , not experienced and outbreak and subsequentially passed it onto you without knowing. good news is hsv2 is worse than hsv1 on the genitals and you probably wont experience much discomfort. shedding rate is also very low but not impossible.
