HSV2 and Lysine

Hi all smile

New to this site!

I was diagnosed with HSV2 in 2013, and have around 4-5 outbreaks each year. I was wondering if anyone had used a daily Lysine supplement to suppress recurrent outbreaks? I've read up quite a bit online about it, and have just ordered some 1000mg tablets. Has anybody tried this and noticed a difference in recurrent outbreaks?

Thanks in advance.

OK so I know this is gonna sound weird but I swear by sudocrem, I've only been diagnosed with HSV2 for 2 days but when asked how long my first outbreak lasted, doctor was surprised it was less than a week.

seriously, try sudocrem, works wonders on pretty much anything and takes the sting out of it too.

Is it the same as Zincofax and other baby rash creams? I always find those sting. In my second out break this month since I was diagnosed and looking for something to calm the itching/pain!!

It seems to be the same sort of ingredients, however sudocream hasn't been stinging at all when I've been using it 😊

Oh, I think that's their original healing cream in that case. Great, thanks!

Got some yesterday! :D And tried it on my face, haha. Supposed to make a good night cream, even though it's essentially a nappy cream for baby bottoms, lol.

Sorry for the late reply! It's meant to be really good for spots, but I find it makes my skin greasy! Lol

It's got zinc oxide in it so as far as I'm aware that contributes to the healing process, give it a go and see if it helps any, I know it does for me smile

I tried sudocream today, and wow, no pain at all!! Thanks for recommending it 😊 On day 3 of outbreak today and it seems to be starting to heal! Feels like it's been over a week though, they drag so bad

Keep using the sudocrem and by day 5 it should be nearly gone, and when you feel the tingle of an outbreak apply some then and it should stop it flaring up like it usually does :D

I was diagnosed hsv2 about a year ago - terrible first episode that lasted around 2 months until it cleared completely and even afterwards I frequently had low level rash on my penis or a small red spot on the pubic rump which never weeped or blistered but sat there for about 2 months at a time - only had 1 real breakout which consisted of itchy foreskin and small lesions that didn’t really hurt and cleared after 5 days. However I now take boots vitamin c with zinc every day along with a boots 10mg zinc tablet and 1000mg l-lysine and almost immediately all the low level rash and itchy feeling cleared and I’ve been like that for around 3 months now - almost like I didn’t have the disease now. Fingers crossed this will continue and I’ll remain outbreak and symptom free!

L-lysine works! I have taken l-lysine for six years now as daily suppressive therapy versus acyclovir or any other Rx anti-virals. 500mg, 3X per day keeps me in check, no hsv2 symptoms. If stress hits a high, I do 'up' my dose, doubling it for a few days then taper down again.

Hi I’m just wondering is it ok to take 1500mg a day? I’m currently taking 1000mg now and again but think I’m going to start it as a daily routine, would you recommend taking more than that xx
