I'm just wondering what everyone's initial outbreak was like, how often you have outbreaks, how to know when one is coming. ...that sort of thing. I just got diagnosed...

The first outbreak is meant to be quite bad. I'm going through mine at the moment but it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would've been (so far anyway) Me and my boyfriend got diagnosed with hsv 2 just a few days ago. He gets cold sores so it all stemmed from there.

I would say, as soon as you feel the first signs, start taking aciclovir. It's a 5 day course amd it really does help. Plus tea tree oil. Me and my boyfriend have been using these and we have only had a outbreak that has lasted a week.

    Hope this helps

Honestly my initial outbreak was horrific, I've never been so uncomfortable or depressed in my life. However it was over in 3 weeks and now the recurrent outbreaks feel like nothing. I've got an outbreak at the moment and other than ever so slight discomfort it isn't affecting me at all.

Obviously this isn't a disease that will go away but it gets so much easier to live with smile xx

Hello, my first outbreak was horrific, I've git hsv1 which in told your first outbreak is worse than hsv2 first outbreak. I was diagnosed in September lasted 5 weeks only because I had a allergic reaction to the numbing gel, I don't think I've had another outbreak since but I did have a little spot which felt uncomfortable to wipe! But not to sure.

My first Outbreak was horrible the most accruciating pain I have ever been in my life ..,

Hurt to pee, walk, sit down ., things like that.

I never got any medicine I just had to stick through it ..

I actually ended up getting an BV from it all to .

Before this herpes thing I never even had any discharge in my life it's something that you have to get used to I can tell you that ..

    How was your breakout ?

What type do you have ?

Do you remember how you got it ?

Im sorry you got diagnosed . Its,not a fun thimg to have.

I got diagnosed 2 years ago. I didn't get my first out break until 2016. My out breaks. I get them on my anus. It feels uncomfortable. meaning I feel like a want to scratch my anus all day long. To me it has not been painful yet. just scratchy.

Did you doctor give you meds?

Ooh wow you didn't get an outbreak for a long long time !!

What type do you have ?

She gave me meds to take if I feel an outbreak coming, but I'm not on suppressive meds. She wanted to wait and see how often I have outbreaks first. I'm not exactly sure what it feels like when an outbreak is coming. I'm hoping I'm one of the rare HSV2 people who never have another outbreak again! Time will tell though.

I have type 1 and type 2. But type 2 is worst I really thought it was all the same. But it's not. Yes, the anus. It's annoying. But I have to deal with it . Pure oregano oil is good for the sores. And the suppressive meds I was taking also worked for me .

When I was pregnant ? I didn't get any sores. And I have natural birth . But I had to be on meds after 35 weeks. It was,a blessing I was able to give natural birth

No I didnt often out breaks . For type 1 or 2.

But recently. Every time I shave my anus. A fee days, later I start to get little tiny like pimples. And that never happened to be. I wonder if shaving triggers type 2 herpes

I haven't read anywhere that shaving triggers it. Maybe it's just razor burn?

I think shaving is a trigger.. I have had an outbreak two months ago shortly after shaving and another has just come on after having a wax last week but not sure if that is the cause or something else. it's so hard to know what triggers it

I'm newly diagnosed so I definitely don't have all the answers, but everything I've read says that stress and a lower immune system are the triggers. Some people have said that when they get their periods the hormonal changes cause outbreaks too. I shave everyday and I haven't had an outbreak yet from it. Everyone is different though so who knows. I'd just become a 1960s woman and let it grow if that was a trigger for me!! Yikes!
