Humira?

I posted this on the PMR forum. Just curious what you all think. I don't really know if I'm finished with PMR, since I still have a lot of pain. But the dr. thinks this pain is now mostly fibromyalgia with osteoarthritis, too. I have a feeling she is right now, but I still take the prednisone 25mg and feel like I need it. But probably I don't, since it isn't helping me much. The dr is suggesting I take humira shots. I haven't researched that yet. Anybody have experiences?

I have wondered whether Humira would help fibro symptoms since it is supposed to quiet inflammation and pain for arthritis (according to the TV commercial) & slow immune response. But my doctor has never recommended it. , so it's still an unknown to me. Look forward to any insights. Maybe they think the side effects wouldn't be worth it?

i researched the drug which seems to have many side effects and the packets carry warnings.

I have osteoarthritis, polymyalgia/fibromyalgia rheumatica and find that together with sr200

Tramadol twice daily, one 5mg prednisone keeps the polymyalgia managable. I also have

distopaenia - I believe the step below osteoporosis -and diabetes. i would not, myself take

humira but that is personal choice. Read all the warnings and see if they are for you.

Remember, if the GP doesn't have your problems or the disease then they can only go by the

information in the drug formulary and medical articles which is sometimes more about

selling that treating. it is something only you can work out as everyone's reactions are

totally different. Wishing you all the best. kind regards

i have never heard of it before, but i have to be careful what i have if it is in tablets i have a big reaction to them,i went to the pain clinic yesturday,he had all my meds there that i am allergic to there is only one other tablet they can give me which is a pan killer and antidepreesant, but e was bothered that i could become suicidal,i saw my own gp today and he agrees with me,that i stay on fluoxatine and go back to 8mg of diazepam it does,nt take much to trigger off my fibromyalgia ,i was sorting out a friend last night got home at 9.45pm and it started to come on then also the burning in my shoulders started

and i feel so tired go no energy.judith

like you i have other physical and also mental problems, also i an allergic to so many meds specially tablets,so the field is getting quite narrow to what i can take.

i go to the pain clinic there is only one other drug they can give me,but it would mean coming off fluoxatine, but he was bothered that with the change i may become suicidal,i saw my gp this morning told him what happened at the pain clinic,so we have decided to stay on fluoxatine and going back onto diazepam 2mg x 4,just the simple things can start my fibromyalgia off like yesturday.

Thanks for the replies. Judith, is the med they might try called Lyrica or Cymbalta? I tried both of these, but like you said, even though they helped with the fibro pain, I became very depressed on them both and had to go back to prozac and pain pills. The depression wasn't worth it; I felt so dark.
