Humira and health care at home

Hi

I am in the UK Wales and my Dr has decided to put me on Humira.

They have taken the bloods and xrays. They said that a company called health care at home would deliver and show me how to use the pens. does any body know how long the health care nurse takes to make the appointment and come to show you how to inject? A lot of reports say that health care at home is not a very good, fast or reliable company. your opinion would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

I was sent to my local rheumatology clinic to be shown how to inject. I struggled due to my hands so hubby went back and was trained and certified to do it. It's a point and press epi pen type thing. Stings a bit but resuits are worth it. Good luck.

A friend had to wait a few months for delivery, live in Kent so it seems there is little difference in waiting time. She had to ring them to remind them. May be worth a go. Good luck.

My first delivery was received 6wks after x rays, bloods etc were done. I was lediagnosed you believe the hospital have to release a prescription to the private drug company before you are contacted. It has worked seamlessly ever since.

I receive my treatment through Healthcare at Home.  I can't remember how long it took initially for the nurse to visit and train me to inject, but the service since has been brilliant.  They are very helpful, delivery is easy and regular, and they are always so pleasant!

I'm on cimzia for ra which is delivered by a company called Bupa. I did have to wait initially for the first lot of meds but the hold up was the hospital not Bupa. The hospital have to get all their administration in order then contact the relevant drugs company about delivery, what you need and how often you need it etc. The hospital showed me how to self inject. It's worked brilliantly for me, Bupa contact me the week before too check the delivery time and day is still suitable. Hope it works as good for you. G.

Hi I am with Health Care at Home and I have to say they have been excellent. Nurse comes out max of 3 times and was truly lovely. I get periodic calls from customer service to check if I need more injections yet and if I need my sharps bin replacing etc. I honestly can't say I've had anything but a really easy ride with them so far.

In terms of how long it takes for them to arrange your first appointment I think that will depend on funding approval. Once mine came through I had an appointment within a couple of weeks.

Hope this helps reassure you X
