Hi All,

Hope someone can advise me.My Husband had a Aortic Dissection on March 29th this year. Was rushed to the Royal Brompton in London, although they didn't think he would make the journey. Went through 17 hours of surgery, died several times but only for seconds they told me, so doesnt appear to have any brain damage. He was in a induced coma for 9 days also on kidney dialysis for 12 days. in hospital for 5 weeks and has been home 2 weeks now. Went to see the G.P. today who told him he is Anemic but his iron levels are higher than normal his hemoglobin levels are very low, I cannot remember if he said they 6.1 or 9.1 but both of those are low anyway. He is lightheaded, gets breathless very easily, e.g. eating dinner. Shoulder pain, back pain, blurred vision. He is on a number of tablets. Doxazocin, Losartan.Bisoprolol. and co-codamol. all of which have there own side effects. The GP didn't give him anything for his Anemia he said to wait untill he see's the heart Doctor which is Monday. He is very tired most of the time but he is eating and drinking plenty of fluids. I was wondering if anybody else on here has the same thing?

Regards to you all

Chris.

I had the same , was given a blood infusion and feel so much better, I still have a few TiA's but it took them a couple of years to give me the infusion. tell your GP to organise one for you . my GP was very good.

HI ; appologies for your husbands health presently; he seems to be getting the right sort of supervision - thankfully.

Low hg ;is fairly normal; unless it's causing difficulties breathing.. and anemia is likely; but you can also address this via foods; sounds like he is in good hands.
