Hv1 on genitals

I received my lab results from my swab test today and it confirmed that I have hvs1 on my genitals but not hsv2.  My bf has had cold sores in the pass but I didn’t see any on his mouth when he performed oral sex on me a few weeks ago. I’ve never had a cold sore before and I don’t really know much about the herpes virus. I  can’t seem to find much info on genital hsv1 online, since it typically isn’t associated with that area. So my questions are 1) can I pass on the hsv1 to my bf genitally even if he has it already orally?  2)can he become reinfected with it if he preforms oral sex on me even though he has it already? 3) can hsv1 turn into hsv2?

    1) it’s not likely because he’s already developed antibodies to the virus, it’s not common to be infected both places with the same virus 2) no, he already has it so you guys can’t ping pong the infection back and forth 3) nope

Thank you so much because the doctor at my college health center didn’t really help me much. He said I could pass it to him genitally which makes no sense if he has it already and he said I can’t receive oral sex which again doesn’t make since since my bf already has it orally .

Your doctor is correct he can get it genitally from you with unprotected Intercourse, hsv 1 loves the mouth but even though he had it orally that doesn't mean it's in his genital because the virus hides in a different nerve when in the mouth so it can't travel by itself to his genital unless you habe sex woth him now that it's in your genital. Please research it.

From why I’ve read online so far, once you have contracted the hv1 in a certain place, it doesn’t travel to other areas on the body because you’re body will have built up antibodies to fight it. So if it entered through the mouth, it typically stays there and like wise with the genitals. I also read that genital to genital transmission for hsv1 is very rare because it isn’t typically contracted there and therefore fewer outbreaks will occur and there is also lower shedding than hsv2. However if I had hsv2 he could have contracted that from me and would then have both types of herpes
