Hydroxyzine medication and IC

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi,

I have suffered with IC for several years now. One of the worse symptoms I found was getting up several times in the night for a wee so disturbing my sleep. Since taking hydroxyzine (Atarax)

medication I sleep through most nights without going to the toilet. Has anyone else found this medication has helped?

Thanks

    Hi Blossom58!

Before I was diagnosed with IC and while my doctors were trying to find out what was wrong with me, I was put on Hydroxyzine. It did help me for awhile but at some point it stopped working. By all means, I don’t want to discourage you because all of our bodies react differently but I thought this may be helpful.

After it stopped working for me, a few months passed and I was officially diagnosed with IC. My urologist prescribed me Elmiron and ever since I’ve been taking it, I’ve been in remission. I was diagnosed with IC in 2012 and I take Elmiron to this day. Hope this was helpful. smile

Hi Blossom.  Yes I have found hydroxyzine helpful both for reducing the number of night time lol visits and it’s also supposed to calm the bladder lining as an inflamed bladder produces hystamine.  I’ve had to keep upping the dose though - started at 10mg now on 30mg working way up to 50mg which is considered to be the optimum dose for bladder pain.  Glad it’s helped you too!

Hi Blossom, I also had IC and the pain was unbearable then 7 years ago I started taking Pukka Aloe Vera and Serrapeptase and have been free from pain since (NO I am not an Agent for these products ha ha)

Try taking Serrapeptase tablets for inflammation - wonderful to clear up bladder inflammation  (whether its cystitis or any other problem). When I first started taking Serrapapetase  I took 2 tablets every 2 hours during the day and then back to the stated dosage - I was amazed how quickly it cleared up - worth looking Serrapeptase up on the internet.

Pukka Aloe Vera tablets are very good but not the ordinary Aloe Vera - must be freeze dried and only the inner leaves used - Pukka brand are perfect. If you buy them from USA they cost over 100$ but they are available online from Naturisimo for about 15 pounds a bottle with free postage.

You must stop taking  antibiotics or anything with Cranberry in and never use Green Tea products as they irritate the bladder - these are ok for ordinary cystitis.

    Good Luck
