Hypercalcaemia, raised parathyroid hormone and slightly low vitamin D levels

My friend is in early 60s and had blood tests done for routine follow up of taking BLOOD PRESSURE treatment.
They found raised calcium which was repeated and then parathyroid hormone levels(raised) and vit D levels (under 50).
The specialist (an ENDOCRINOLOGIST who is not an expert in PARATHYROID disease , has put her on very high dose vitamin D.
According to everything I read this seems the wrong thing to do. It is likely that he Blood calcium levels will go even higher.
She feels more and excessively tired and has night sweats but otherwise is well.
DOES ANYONE know what she should do next? She is not due to be seen again for another three months.

No that seems to be the right way to treat the high calcium level, if her vitamin D is lower than it should be her intestines can't absorb the excess calcium.
What else was out with her blood tests

when you say absorb do you mean expel? Her calcium levels are already too high. Surely absorbing more may make her Calcium go up further

No the intestines need vitamin D to get the calcium down to normal levels so it's absorbed through the intestines and any excess amounts will be lost in the process.
Having too much calcium can be caused by many other factors and really she needs to speak to her GP or the consultant who ordered her tests to begin with and have further tests done as not intending to scare you but extremely high levels of calcium can mean a small tumor is causing the gland to work faster creating the increased calcium levels.
Get her to go back and see health practitioner
