Just wondering if anyone has tried hypnosis for anxiety? Any bad experiences or good ones?

Oh man that stinks. Debating if I want to try it or not. I heard it can be risky doing it...don't know how true that is.

Tried hypnosis. Didn't work for me, anxiety I think meant I couldn't relax enough to switch off, worked for my dad but he went to help painmanagement ( he does get anxious as well but wouldn't say he suffers with anxiety , more of a worrier. Hope more people reply if it works for some may be worth giving it a go, everybodies different.and I think this drives us that mad that it's worth trying anything??

Interesting. Ya I definitely don't think I could shut my brain off either to get to that relaxed state. I heard it can be dangerous to do, but don't know how true that is.

Hi Amykins, I've tried hypnosis and if you commit to it and practice it everyday it can have a positive effect, it can be very relaxing and opens up the subconscious to positive affirmation. I've neglected my self hypnosis over the last few years and intend to start again and keep it up when I'm well again. It can be discouraging at times as anxiety can get in the way but you just have to accept what feelings you get and bring your attention back to the hypnotic state.
We are all in a typical hypnotic state at least twice a day, it's that borderline between being asleep and awake, your conscious of what's going on but still in that relaxed sleepiness state, difficult to explain really.
Go see a hypnotherapist as youve nothing to loose by giving it a go and see how you get on with it, you will find out if it's for you or not.
