Hypnotherapy is not the best medication as prove for depression. You must use proper diet and exercise to avoid the depression.

Diet is very easy for me to adopt , but with a spinal issues that limits my mobility by the day exercise isn't not. If you analogy is true then what your saying is there is no hope. I don't think you should poo-poo hypnotherapy, whilst its not for all, it does help some.

Hope you are having a great day Naomi. I have not had hypno therapy, but would be intrigues to know if it works and how. You see hypnotist on tv and if they can change people then perhaps there is some hope

Hi Naomi, it's a useful tool to use in addition to meds etc.

It helps you relax and visualise but in itself is not an anti depressant, self hypnosis is quite easy to do.

Very similar to mindfulness in its approach also.

I have not heard of hypnotherapy to help with depression. Maybe this is something you should ask your doctor about.  They would know best about it and the kind of results one would generate from such treatment.

Medications for depression should be taken regularly.  You can't stop.  If the meds you are currently taking are not working, your doctor should be trying different dosages or different types of meds for depression until one is found that works.

Depression is not an easy mental illness to solve, but there are many things you can do to help alleviate it's symptoms. Try finding a hobby or doing volunteer work, exercise for at least 5 days a week for 30 minutes a day, etc.  There are other things you can do in addition to taking your meds to help with depression.

Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Yes I will speak to my doctor about hypnotherapy. But the most important thing is to try & find a different medication.

I have stopped exerciseing regularly so need to start again as that helped.

      Happy holidays x

    Hiya Naomi

I found Hypnotherapy to be very useful in the early days of my reactive depression. It was suggested by a friend who was a reflexologist (useful for physical problems i have). The trouble was, the person i saw lived some distance from me so by the time i got home, some of the good work was undone.

In conjunction with medication and counselling i did find it beneficial though.

    Best wishes
