Hypomelanosis of skin and peri?

Posted , 10 users are following.

Hello ladies,

for first time some years ago I have noticed some white tiny white spots on my skin and especially on my arm..

I went to a dermatologist and she said that is nothing and she only prescribed me vitamin E.

Since then, each summer when my body  is exposed to the sun and my color skin is becoming darker ( my natural color is white)I am noticing a few  diffuse white spots.

Has any lady notice this kind of change on your epidermis? is it a sun allergy or a loss of melanin due to our low estrogen?

Hi evi, I have them too.  Along with the red speckles on my arms and stomach.  Vertical ridges on my nails and hair growing out of my moles! Blech!  I would say aging, but hormones deplete with aging...so probably hormones! I love vitamin E...I using it on my dark eye circles, also, I got hit with some attractive forehead acne since peri!  It is healing it a bit 😀

      hello Lou,

I have red tiny moles too...on my stomach area above ovaries and chest area

      They look like cherry angiomas.

I searched on the internet and this condition of white round spots is called idiopathic hypomelanosis but there aren't enough data about that.

Low estrogen affects our skin and I was thinking that maybe due to  low estrogen we cannot absorb the nutrients we need.

Are you taking anything for peri hell? Any HRT?

Hi Evi,  Our skin is the largest organ, so it makes sense to me!  I have been on Lexapro for 3 mo.  Just started weaning myself off though. I have awful migraines and vertigo.  Dr said I have BPV (inner ear vertigo).  And of course anxiety!   But, my unbalanced feeling is daily now.  I believe I actually have vestibular migraines.  Seeing dr after the weekend.  Probably have to go on amitripyline for that.  Then, I see my new gyno.  I may try oral BCP again...I am hesitant though because I was on for 20 years...then when I stopped, all this crap started.  I’m afraid of going back on, then having everything come back in 10 years or something...so confusing!  I also take a multi vitamin, omgeag3, vitamin D.  How about you?

Lou, for the unbalanced feeling buy an otc Dramamine. You don't need any rx that really won't be able to do much to stop that feeling except for one of those otc meds.

Thanks Sochima!  I was given meclizine before to take as needed...same idea.  I have cycled through so many weird symptoms, but the off balanced feeling sucks and has been constant for months.  I feel like I am drunk and living on a boat.  My tinnitus has been worse lately too.  🙄

Exaxtly, Lou! It's CRAZY! Driving is a challenge. Everything is amped way up! Joked the other day that ordering a pizza was all I had accomplished. Hang in there! Hugs ?

Thanks Nancy!  I have been getting out to drive a little more...only when It is necessary.  Last week, I was having a bad migraine, dizzy, strep throat ...but, my son called and needed to be picked up...Total supermom moment jumped in the car and off I went for an hour drive.  One good thing about Lexapro...doesn’t allow you to think 😁 I get you on everything being amped up...the trees and cars zipping by make me nauseous. My car has a back up camera...I use it all the time now..I hate turning my head fast.  Do you notice you drive faster too?  I do...but if I am out, I just want to get the hell back!  Hugs to you too! 🤗

Yes, I was given meclizine as well for my bpv. For tinnitus I was taking gingko biloba until now that you reminded me that I need to buy it again.

      Hello again lou,

I am taking  occasionally 1/2 Xanax usually the day after my period ends.

But I have noticed that antidepressants and anti anxiety medicines make me worse...

I was taking Remeron for a period in order to help me sleep...wow this medication made me eating like a pig and caused me restlessness, I was feeling like a zombie.

I am also hesitant  about BCP because it lowers even more estradiol levels...

Our bodies are screaming for estrogen

I am trying to follow a healthy diet but peri hell seems invincible and diet is like a a drop in the ocean

I am thinking of trying estriol cream.

I think I am definitely estrogen deficient as of recent.  My periods are very light...can just use a liner.  But, my vertigo is pure hell.  I was on a combined BCP for years...my body was used to an even amount of progesterone and estrogen each month.  I am going to ask about creams too!  In menopause land, ADs are at least supposed to help with hot flashes...I did not find that to be the case!  Sweats are actually a side effect.  Keep us posted if you try the estradiol cream! 😁

In my opinion the long term use of BCP may have affect the normal function of your ovaries...

      Are you menstruating every month?

I have periods on the dot every 27-29 days but I have noticed changes in the flow. First day normal, second very heavy, 3rd very light, 4 and 5 day more flow than day 3...

As you mentioned hot flashes, are you experiencing them before during and exactly after you period?

Vertigo is another symptom of estrogen deficiency

I do not think ADs help only temporarily when I am having crying outbursts but the day after taking an antidepressant I am becoming very aggressive.

The last 5 months they have been pretty consistent...every 21-24 days on average. Very light flow only lasting 2 -3 days.  Easy periods. Before that I was skipping months, then getting hit heavy, clots, etc.  Hot flashes more apparent now too, mostly before period.  I get hit with night sweats.  During the day, I look more embarrassed from the neck up.  I agree that long term BCP use messes things up.  Was on for 20 years.  Symptoms started within a month of me stopping last year at 40.  Drs say no...this girl says yes 😉

Yes, you're right. Doctors who say no to symptoms after stopping bcp's don't have any experience or are lacking in knowledge about bcp's and the after effects that can lead to menopausal symptoms. Of course, everyone is different. My friend, also, stopped her bcp's after 40 years and suffered none of the symptoms most here complain about. I stopped taking them one year later, and my symptoms came back 100 fold. My doctor told me I never should have stopped because when trying to get back on it, it stopped working.

Oh EXACTLY! I see stars when I turn my head too fast. Some days I just don't drive. Can't do it at night, in the rain or snow. I can, but it's terrible! Glad my kiddo is so self sufficient, but I was always super/single mom. Glad that's over, but damn if this doesn't just kick our arses! And those we love.
