Hypospadias re-operation in adult

Hello,

At the age of 23 (failed hypospadias surgery at 18 years old due to fistula, circumcised) I am considering having another surgery and I am faced with the decision between two German doctors Dr. Hadidi and Dr. Fisch and thus also two different surgical techniques.

I ask for advice from other people who have experience with adult surgeries:

- Has one of those two techniques been used to correct you hypospadias - Dr. Hadidi "SLAM" technique & Dr. Fisch "oral mucosa plastic" - and if so, with what result?

- If not, where did you have the surgery (worldwide, international is totally fine), which technique was used and what was the result?

I am grateful for feedback from others with personal experience.

    Paper on SLAM: https://hypospadie24.com/wp-content/uploads/SLAM-March-2012.pdf

Paper on 2 stage urethroplasty (which is probably same or similar to the 'oral mucosa plastic'winkhttps://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2011.10842.x

No experience of the first. The second is common here in UK.  Works well with low infection risk but long time (3 months) between stages but well tolerated with good improvements to symptoms and appearance

Hope this helps and good luck with whichever you choose

Just a general comment.  I considered urethroplasty for a complex stricture about a year ago.  Because I was 78 at the time, and because of the recovery time and age related risk, I decided not to, even though I had consulted with a top specialist on the other side of the US. (I decided on another urethrotomy followed by an AUS implant shortly after.)    Since you are much younger, I hope you would consider the procedure with the highest success rate, and make the recovery time and process a secondary issue.  In any event, I wish the best for you, and hope you find a lasting resolution.)

I am sorry that you are having this problem.  I remember a cousin of mine that was 10 years older then me had this repair done.  He had 2 pee holes one was at the tip and one was under the head.  Don't know if he peed for both but he had them fix.  This was many years ago.  The only think I can tell you.  I pulled up both doctor to see if I could read there way of doing the procedure but I could not find them just general information.  The only thing I can say is talk with both doctors and see which one would give you the best out come.  Please let us know what happens.  Good luck my young friend  Ken
