Hypothyroidism and blood sugar levels

Posted , 3 users are following.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a couple of months ago and was given synthroid 25mcg to take. I have not started taking this yet. But the past year I have been having to keep track of my blood sugar levels. It goes down all day so I have to constantly eat to keep it up. I have passed out from it getting too low in the past. I was told today by my GI Dr that my hypothyroidism is what's causing my hypoglycemia and told me to start my synthroid. Can they both be connected?

Hi Camille, both thyroid function and blood sugar are parts of the endocrine system. The endocrine system organs work together to balance energy levels. with

You might look into gut health, as many thyroid patients experience gut problems, which lead to malnutrition and can contribute to and worsen thyroid conditions.
