Hypothyroidism constipation pain left side

I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was wondering if anyone out there with same condition gets the same symptoms as myself. Every few month my digestive system seems to just stop working. I get constipated and then get a pain in my left side like its cramped and blocked. Then if it stays like this for more than a day i start feeling ill like achy flu like symptoms . It stays like this a few days then its like my digestive system just switches back on makes loads of gurgling sounds then after a day or two back to normal. Ive had this for 20 plus years and doctors said it was ibs now they are saying hypothyroidism is the cause. Anyone have similar symptoms?

    I had undiagnosed hypothyroidism for awhile and I would bounce between constipation and diarrhea. Usually I got diarrhea the same time as the edema and muscle pains. My guess is that it was from the very high inflammatory state as they all would come and go together.
