You really should not be doing so much yet, if you damage the healing that is going on inside then you could get an infection as well as the pain and you could also end up back in hospital.

I need to ask you to reconsider your priorities. Your first priority is to heal, and heal well. That means your body needs rest. Your body needs all its energy to heal.

As for infection, you have already been living in and exposed to the bacterial "soup" created by you, your family and pets for years.  The chance that they could infect you is slim. How old is your daughter? She could do some cleaning up after the pets, at least.

I hope you were given post-op instructions.  If you were, please follow them.  External stitches can take up to 6 weeks to heal, the internal stitches can take much longer for some, even 8 weeks or longer.  Those are the stitches that are the most critical to the healing process.

If you've been diagnosed with cancer, your body is already depleted from fighting the disease.  This is what you're going to be fighting, and you'll need all the strength you can get.  xx.

    Hello Lottie

I am sorry to hear that you have had a cancer diagnosis.  I agree with Phoebe and Lynda re overdoing things.  This is a common situation.  Doctors give instructions to rest, not lift, not stretch so effectively no housework or hanging out washing for six weeks.  I'm a firm believer that if you follow the instructions to the letter you will have a good outcome.  I did and it was amazing.  Have you got family or friends that you can call on to help out perhaps?  Is there access to paid help if you cannot afford this yourself?  Take great care.  Your life is important and avoiding complications at this early stage is essential.  Cheers Lyn

Hi I get a little sore but I have a seat. I have friends but it's Xmas and it's not fair to ask off them. I don't have any family just me and my daughter, she helps with the trays and walking the dogs. I have put an ad for help with housework but nothing yet. X

Your friends undoubtedly love you--and to my mind, it doesn't hurt to ask them for help, especially under the circumstances. This journey is just beginning for you.  Are there any cancer-related charities in your area that offer support?

Will be thinking of and praying for you. xx

I totally agree with Lynda, you MUST conserve your energy and get well before undergoing the next stage of your treatment. You are at risk of infection by overdoing it so please ease up.
