How long will it take for me to be well again?

I still have allot of pressure  in the lower region of my abdomen, almost like I am carrying a ball of water. Also  I am to use the  Premarin cream by using my finger, this was my first day to start and I was shocked to feel hard stitches inside the vagina.  Please can someone give me some  advice.

Excuse my poor spelling.

Each person recovers differently, based on several factors, including their health, stamina, age and their body's ability to heal. Your surgeon should have given you some post operative instructions, if not, please contact his office for guidelines.  A repair will naturally involve stitches, most likely, they will dissolve over time.

It is important to remember that you only have this one chance to heal, and to heal well. So give yourself sufficient time to rest and good nutrition. Household work will always wait.  Don't lift anything heavier than a liter of liquid. Internal stitches can take over 8 weeks to heal, or longer.   Take it easy.

Bast of  luck to you! xx

Thank you so much for your wise advice Lynda 20196. I will be seeing the surgeon this coming Monday, it's been almost six weeks since the procedure.

This is not an easy subject for me to talk about with  people, I am  so thankful I found this site. Yes... I would like to keep you posted, thank you for your concern. I live in a very rural area and when I get together with family and friends.. it's not a comfortable conversation.

You haven't said exactly when your operations were? Good grief I sure wouldn't want to be putting finger up there to apply cream. Does your country not have the cream with applicator? With stitches still there your risking introducing infection. But depends on how long ago op was? Have you had post-op check?

Hello Robyn94818. Thank you for your response. I am in Canada.

My operation was a cystocele and rectocyle plus a full hysterectomy.

Yes there is an applicator but my surgeon/ gynocologist suggested that I do not use the applicator, she suggested my finger because it is softer than the applicator, please note that I washed my hands with antiseptic soap.

I understand what you are saying regarding infection.

my operation was six weeks ago, and it was 7 hours long on the operation table. There were a couple of complications.

Internal stitches can take up to six months to heal. It’s really important not to lift heavy weights for that time - split shopping into lots of small bags for example. Do your pelvic floor exercises, and at 12 weeks you might think about one of the battery run pelvic toners. This helps avoid prolapse.  Good luck, be patient, it’s early days and you will feel better, I promise. 👍🏻😄

Wondering how you are doing now?  I just had the same surgery a week ago and am shocked at the amount of stitches I feel from the prolapse surgery on my perineum.  Hoping that will heal and feel softer?  I have been having some headaches but nothing terrible yet in the way of surgical menopause.  I would love to hear how you are healing and feeling now?  Thanks.
