Hysterectomy query with lying on side

Hi all, I am only a week into an abdominal hysterectomy with all but ovaries removed at 37.  I am in a lot of pain still but my query is, is it usual that I can’t lay on my side, when I try to it feels like there is too much pressure there and really too uncomfortable.  Also my stomach keeps stinging and I get stabbing pains, is that usual too please?

Hi Karen I 51 had the same procedure and i’m now at 4 weeks post op. Best advice I can give is to try to walk when you can. Use a body pillow to help you sleep. The pillow actually took the pressure down. I hope you feel better soon.

Omg I’m so sorry That you are going through this pain. I’m already nine weeks in and my first two weeks were horrible in a lot of pain excruciating pain my uterus was stuck to my bladder so my uterus was removed plus my ovaries.  Yes it’s very uncomfortable to lay down on your side click just trying to put a pillow on the side or in between your legs dad would also help you with your digestion but you need to lay down on your left side

    Hi Karen

I had a vaginal hyster 4 mths ago and couldn't lay in side for many weeks after.

I did find a pillow between my legs took any pressure off my stomach. We have a lot of swelling in there which goes on for months in afraid.x
