Hysterectomy recovery

I’m  35 y/o I had a TLH on April 3rd 2018, I wanted to share my experience as it is a very common procedure for women.

I had my TLH due to many uterine fibroids some as big as 8cm and growing. I was experiencing pain and discomfort for over a year and wanted to explore other options besides a TLH but per doctors recommendation and second opinions we went with the best option which was a TLH.

Surgery was a success no complications!

Days after surgery:

1-2days after TLH I took pain killers only to prevent pain, didn’t have pain at all. I was sore for about 5 days.

I did have light pain, was very bloated, had lots of gas discomfort, but no bleeding, I was annoyed at that fact that I couldn’t go number 2 for about 1.5 days, I did call my doctor and she said it’s normsl and to take my stool softeners and eat lots of fiber and drink water.

I was thankful that I had no bleeding which lasted for 8 days. Then on the 9th day I did experience light bleeding no cramping no fever no nausea.

On the 10th day lighter spotting no pain no cramping

After day 11 very light bleeding if any and no pain at all.

4/18/2018- no pain no bleeding able to get out of bed alone without soreness or pain

Still not able to go number 2 the gas continues feeling full at times.

I do get sore towards the end of the nights after walking or riding in the car.

I will add that I did try to recover fully for 2 weeks before getting out of bed or walking. I thank my husband for all his help as he would not let me do anything at all and because of that I feel like I’m recovering very well.

It’s been 19 days since my surgery and although I feel great like I can do everything I know it’s best to take the full 4-6 weeks to fully recover from the inside.

I hope this post help any women that is scared or nervous about having a TLH. I feel like it was a great decision and can’t wait to post about my full recovery experience!

    Diane.

God bless. 🤗. Your experience will most definitely be an inspiration, as well as a guideline to specific concerns that some of us may be feeling. I certainly have gone through many of what you’ve experienced.

My main downfall was not resting as prescribed. I’m paying my dues now and have shared my delinquent behavior with the ladies 😂
