Hysterepexy and vaginal repair recovery time?

Hi

Had laparoscopic hysterepexy and vaginal repair 19 days ago.

I feel so utterly wiped out and sore, I have what feels like period pain all the time.

When should I expect to start feeling normal?

I’m only signed off work for a total of 6 weeks but expect to need a lot longer as this was the minimum I was told I was needed for both procedures (6-8 weeks).

This also doesn’t account for me having back pain from mild scoliosis, being tired from under-active thyroid and menopause and also being sole carer of two kids, one with severe autism!

What is other people’s experience and when did you return to driving and work?

I support young adults with autism so couldn’t keep up with them safely until fully recovered anyway.

I was told I couldn’t do the equivalent of running for a bus for 12 weeks.

    Hi there,

I'm also 19 days post op for A&P repair and feel the same as yourself.

Period type pain with burning and shooting pains down there.

I know with my procedure I'm not to drive for 6 weeks.

Your better check with your insurance.

At the moment I cant even sit up I spend most of my time laying on my side.

Been taken pain meds every 4 hours but they don't seem to help that much.

It's a long hard recovery without saying.

But hopefully the outcome will be worth it.

Wishing you well wishes for better days and a speedy recovery.
