Hysteroscopy

Trans vaginal ultrasound indicates I have thickness of lining of the womb and advised to have the above.  She said nothing nasty may be polyp. Very concerned as I had one done 10 yrs ago and it was very uncomfortable.  Anybody had one done recently?  Have problems with spotting and vaginal swab showed infection and am now on antibiotics but still feels so uncomfortable down below itchng inside.  For years have been having symptoms of atrophic vaginitis abdominal discomfort and burning sensation nobody has been able to tell me what's wrong.  It is so depressing that recently am having one problem after another I o need a break!!  Thanks

Vaginal atrophy can have many symptoms, burning etc. Are you on hrt, that can caus the lining to thicken. Its never considered normal to bleed on hrt treatment, just wondering if you are on it? It also should not caus lining to thicken, but can. Usually then hrt has to be stopped at least for awhile.

Marie i do feel for you, had many months of this, the itching and burning, urethal  discomort. went on vagifem pesseries, they did help but it was these that caused me to have a scan like yours as these were causing me to bleed again, was told to stop using them. Things got so bad  sex became unbearable too. I never found the vaginal ultrasound anywheres as painfull as my last Smear test. presume your menapausal age?

Hi Marie I have had two Hysteroscopys 1 in Feb last year by a local anesthetic

but I found it very un comfortable and another in May last year by General anesthetic - the first one showed a thickening a sample was taken and it was

benign but because I still had a problem with spotting I had another hysteroscopy in May and was diagnosed with atrophic vaginitis and put on

Vagifem for  6months but I still had the problem and like yourself was getting

very frustrated. I went back to Doctors who said she would send me for another

ultra scan.  The scan did not show a thickening but showed a cyst on the ovary

but I was told this was very common and that they can come and go. The

Doctor said she would write to the gynacologist and I received an appointment

to attend the clinic in December.. The result of this is that they will prescribe a

cream for the VA and because of the cyst I will have an ultrasound scan every 3 months for a year.  I did ask the question why the Hysteroscopys

one showed a thickening and the other did not but they said that the lining can

change - It is your descision wether to have a local or general anesthetic but

when they did it under a general they also performed a D and  C.  Hope

you get yourself sorted , I am hoping this cream will work
