I always thought balanitis. But not anymore

Posted , 1 user is following.

I've had balanitis on and off for like 10 months. it would look like irritation on my glans and would heal with hydrocortisone. reading these forums would calm me and think that's what it was. but now I actually developed a bump on my scrotum. I am pretty sure it's herpes and my balanitis was herpes as well. I will get my blood test after the holidays. this is the worst because it was a one time unprotected encounter, one slip up that ruined my life. if it wasn't for my daughter I'd probably off myself.

Who diagnosed your Balanitis? Or, perhaps you are using the term to describe the symptoms you have. Unfortunately "Balanitis" can be used for both of these options, but actual Balanitis skin conditions can only be confirmed by a Biopsy. Even if you were told by, or you perhaps misunderstood what a Doctor was trying to explain, and you took what they did say as you having a specific Balanitis skin condition, Doctors find it difficult to differentiate the different potential condition.

It is more often a Dermatologist, with good experience of differentiating the different Genital skin disorders that diagnose correctly, if a Biopsy has not been conducted.

The bump on your scrotum can have a very simple explanation, so don't jump to conclusions before you have been tested. You need to show what you have going on with your scrotum when you get the blood tests done - it is all-too-easy to put 2 and 2 together and get an answer that is completely incorrect .....

hey dugie thanks for replying. I was using it to describe my symptoms. all I had was redness on my glans which I suspected was from using strong body scrubs and I used alcohol wipes as well to clean my penis. the red spots wouldn't hurt either. after realizing I corrected my penis hygiene and it helped. I had been symptom free since October until now that this appeared.
