I am 15 year girl with a missing hip socket

I recently had a hip X Ray due to severe pain and it was discovered that I have a missing socket in my left hip.  I am due to have scans and tests and will probably have some sort of bone graft or a hip, replacement operations.  If anyone could help if they have had a similar problem I would be very grateful.  Many thanks.

Hi Emmerline, welcome. I too was born without a hip socket, found at 2mths and suffered growing up. They carved out a socket for me before putting in a pin and plate. That lasted for 28 years before they gave me a hip replacement. Good luck

    Hello lovely,

welcome. I cannot help, only that they do seem to have hip surgery pretty sorted. I had THR 6 months ago and am galloping around Xmas shopping. Running up and down stairs. Trust your surgeon and do any exercises recommended.

It is a very different scenario from a lot of us but I am sure you will find Great support here.

It is scary, but just being here helps. Lots of lovely people, and I am sure some who have been in a similar situation.

I thank you so much for your support.  I don't believe that my problem is very common but hopefully someone in the same situation will come forward with some advice and info.  Thanks Kris1964.  X
