if you are going for surgery go for key hole, All that I have spoken to have said with out question this is the best option. I am 41, was diagnosed at the age of 30, but had symptoms as early as 12/13 and may be earlier. I live with this condition some times not that well but I look after myself, try vitamin B12 and drink soya milk, try not to get too stressed out and relax. If you can hold off on the opperation, be positive at all times. If you need to chat my mail is ****, I will be happy to share all I know and to give you support, take care of you, and keep checking out this site, bye for now. Patrick.

I have just had this operation. I'm 18 and I got it done Keyhole. I picked Keyhole because the scars are much smaller and heal faster and there is less risk of infection.

I had my op on the 9th Jan (07) and it is now 23rd Jan (07).

My op went well but the surgeon cut through the second lining in the gullet, which made things more complicated. I had to be put on a drain and my hospital stay was much longer. So much that i got fed up and discharged myself on wednesday. (Just a week after the op). I was put on a sloppy diet and apparently have to continue that for 6 weeks. Which sucks! And I am still a little weak on my feet. I am due back to go the clinic in a week or so, so maybe then they will give me more advice.

The pain after surgery is not that bad at all. I just felt aching and stiffness.

    Good luck!
