I am 46 years of age and have had this Cervical Spondylosis condition for approximately 20 years. I have tried every painkiller available and nothing eases it. My neck I can deal with but it is the constant headache...you go to bed with it and wake up with it and it drags you down after a while. I seem to live at my doctors my I get the impression that there really isn't anything they can do for me. I have tried doing neck exercises which the Physio suggested but they really do not help at all. I am currently attending a Pain Clinic and they have tried all sorts of different procedures (nothing surgical!) acupuncture, injections and I have just had local anesthetic injected into my vertibrae. You would think that this day and age they would have come with something to relieve this awful condition. On top of this I now have TMJ (Jaw displacement) due to me grinding my teeth at night due to the pain in my neck, so this is also giving me alot of pain!

Come on all you doctors out there devise some sort of pain relief/cure for all of us that are suffering with this...some days it is very difficult to cope!!

HI there .dont know what to say to you in reply to your message only I have been suffering with the same condition acording to the dotors ect even after an operation to remove the damged disc the problem reocurred after about six months and as like yourself I am finding it hard to cope with the pain and the headaces as well. I only wished the doctors would find something to get rid of the agonising pain for suffers like ourselves,as as the days go on I am finding it harder to cope from day to day As like you have had all treaments going but to no avail and pain is getting worse over the weeks. so I know how you feel and can only hope that one day something comes up to help you to rid your body of the pain in wich you are putting up with.

    best regards

    please take care,

    fellow sufferer

Hello .sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I can only simpervise with you in your agony I have had this problem for aprox ten years and even had an operation wich did not work so I no what you are going thro. my partner to at first did not relise what was wrong with me as like you found it hard to do most things .the same probs as you as well left hand side mostly the problem but as time as gone on it has afected my right side and now my legs as well as the nervs are what are causing the problems and they can not be repaired. All I can do like you is take drugs to help with the pain but even with all thease the problem is still there but do keep it at a manageble level most days. the best one is the fentinall patch wich is is a morphine based drug that is slowly released over a three day period but it has got its draw backs like first day of wearing find it hard to sleep then over the days i feel really tired and have no energy at all but aprt from that there is nothing out there for this problem and I have now been told the only other thing they can do is for me to go on a cronic pain mangement course to show me on how to learn how to do or not do things and how to try and relax and live with the pain. sorry it is not better news for you but I have had this problem as I stated before and I know what you are going through. I am now registered disabled with this problem as can not find any work that i can do due to the suffering. sorry for any bad news but please if you need to talk more please contact me and I will gladly try and help out as much as possible.

    take care

I have only just found this website and was so pleased to discover I was not going mad and other people understand what I am going through. I was diagnosed in Febraury and have had pain since December. I have been passed round the hospital and only have had treatment from the physio. I get the impression that I should shut up and put up. My neck hurts, grates and bangs and the headaches are awful. I have also had problems with my jaw due to grinding my teeth at night due to the pain in my neck. I had an mri scan which showed a fusion at C5/6 and disc desease at C4 and 7. I have asked to go to see a neurosurgeon but do not hold out much hope that he will offer any surgical help. We shall see. I will write again after my appointment
