I am afraid I may be having a uterine or vaginal prolapse after I had sex? *PICTURE*

I am on antidepressants so I was getting quite dry during sex and I'm afraid I may have caused trauma to my vagina or uterus. I don't know if my vaginal opening looks normal or if I should be concerned. My suspicion (due to the slight bulging thing near the bottom of the opening) is that I may be suffering from a prolapse of sorts. image

Try inserting a finger into your vagina. Can you feel any lumps? The most usual prolapses are from the uterus, dropping lower into the vagina. The lower bowel, which feels like something bulging into the back wall of the vagina. Bladder, which feels like a bulge into the front wall of the vagina. If you cannot insert your finger at all without pain then do see your doctor.

Intercourse, even dry, does not usually cause prolapses but you may just be aware of something that was there all along.

If you have been pregnant and had vaginal birth then you are more at risk of a prolapse.

You could just be irritated from being incredibly dry during sex but if something looks or feels different for you I would get it looked at just to be sure but it doesn't necessarily mean a prolapse.

If you do have a prolapse it doesn't mean the end of the world. There are lots of things to do to help such as pelvic floor strengthening that can really help.

Surgery is a last resort reserved for severe cases that don't respond to other interventions.

    Rach Xx
