I am constantly contracting threadworms.

I first caught threadworm’s when i was around 11/12 years old from i think a public toilet. Since the day i caught my first threadworm’s i have not been able to totally get rid of them. I am now 18 years old and it has been almost a year since i last caught some, which is disappointing because I thought i had finally managed to rid myself of them. I am an extremely hygenic person, i suffer with obsessive cleaning habits and so does my mother. We live in a very clean home I can’t stress enough how clean it is and I repeatedly wash my hands ritually as a result of my constant years of threadworms. After i had caught my first round of threadworms i had continued to regularly get them until i was 15, after that i did still continue to get them but it became less frequent. I also suffer with a severe anxiety disorder and rarely leave the house, the last time i had is when i went to visit my boyfriend around six weeks ago. I have no idea how i am contracing the worms because as i said before i am extremely hygienic. I sent a stool sample to the doctors along with another container that had four individual thread worms placed into it and the results came back negative for nothing. I don’t know what to do anymore I wondered if there was anyone out there that shared my experience’s or knew what i could do to help get rid/prevent these awful things as they are now beginning to take a toll on my mental health.

Hi, I just had to reply even though I don't know if I can help.

I am exactly exactly the same as you, the same position, I have become extremely anxious and OCD too and just put a post up myself.

I am also a really hygienic person, it makes it feel so much worse doesn't it?

I feel as though I have tried everything too. Have you ever tried any of the diet fads people suggest? I have been eating lots of pineapple but also avoiding all the sugary foods I usually eat (could be a load of rubbish I don't know).

One thing I haven't tried is diatomaceous earth, which apparently does wonders for the health and also gets rid of parasites? I am tempted to try as I feel mentally exhausted and drained too. Some people say this stuff is bad for your insides which isn't great as I suffer from IBS but feeling desperate....

I hope you're having more luck than me.

Thanks for replying, I'm sorry that I haven't replied earlier, as I have only just seen this. You probably don't care, but I have recovered from my threadworms. I have a tip, although you have probably already used it. Treat EVERYONE who has come in to contact with you when you have suffered from them with a tablet. You just ask over the desk at a pharmacy, for the tablet that cures worms. Give one to everyone you live with, and wash all bedding, clothes you have worn etc, and continue to wash your hands, as the eggs around can live for up to 2-3 weeks. When you see the worms in your (excuse my language if it offends you) poo, it means they have left your body. If this continues (you keep getting them), you may want to seek medical advice from a doctor (I do not mean to be rude or disrespectful). They may have more helpful advice than me. And, if you are getting them, YOU CANNOT help that you have them. Obviously, you can help yourself recover, but it is not your fault that you have them, so don't worry. Only wash your hands if you have come into contact with your rear end (bottom), been to the toilet, or are about to eat (or wash etc). Do not stress over it, as it is a natural thing, and you have not chosen it. Good luck, and if you ever want to talk, use this chat, or private message me (not sure how though). Keep me updated, and I wish you my best. Also, if you think that my advice is unreliable, I am only 11 (12 in a couple of weeks) but have got knowledge of this as my family works in medical health, and have passed down advice to me. Once again, good luck, and keep me updated! I am inquisitive as I would like to know what you have done, and if course I want to check you are okay!
