Believe it or not this is part of the course, I am 4 months post op and a similar melt down. I think it's partly to do with the tablets, the tedium of it all and being at home all the time.

You should be confident you are over the worst of it and risk of reherniation and be please it has been a success. You can work standing up leaning against a stall for a while. It's great your boss is being reasonable.

However, I hope I dont sound blase, but you probably need a good night out with your friends.

Aw your post i could relate to everything you said but it is going to get better and you will come through it. I had a micro discectomy May 2014 and a spinal fusion 12 weeks ago this was major surgery the surgeon went through the stomach and took out 2 discs and put cages, bone and rods in there. I have no pain but very stiff and very restless nights mainly because its hard lying on your back and i can't get comfy. I take amatryptiline for this at the mo. I've had the worry of going down to nil pay and have been asked to see an occupational doctor twice. I've felt low but refuse to succumb to it by walking everyday to get blood supply to my back i hear its very good for it and doing small things i enjoy. You will turn a corner where you will feel stronger and your not alone
