I am Done!

I have learned so much from this group, the main thing being that i must be from outer space. I had my left TKR on 12 March 2019. The right was done on 16 October 2018. I had very minimal pain after the first one and was released from both my surgeon and PT at the 7 week appointments. Th e PT appointment was my first after surgery. I had even less pain with the left knee, and have already been released after my PT evaluation. The therapist said there was nothing he could do for me that I couldn't do at home. My ROM after 3 weeks was 120! I'm thinking the difference in recovery/pain level is that my surgeries were done in the US, and I received nerve blocks rather than spinals. Good Luck to all of you!

Congratulations! Glad it all went well for you. Its still very early days for both knees. Don't rush things, jus do ur exercises & take things easy or you might end up regretting it! My last tkr was done Feb 2017, still not great. Had alot of problems with it bout a Yr ago. Surgeon offered to do it again which I turned down. Had intense bouts of pain & swelling. Surgeon sent me for various tests which all came bk negetive. Eventually his conclusion was that I'd prob pulled a tendon & it'd bled into the wound. So anyway take things easy, don't rush it. Good luck with your continued recovery.

You are done with WHAT ??? people sharing their good and bad stories of their TKR??You are definitely in the minority, and I think you are very very Blessed with your surgeries...... I , too, had my surgery in the USA, NC to be exact, and that has nothing to do with your success. What an insult to those ppl from Britain ....

Didn't mean to put anyone down with my remarks. I have gotten so much inspiration from reading each and every post since joining the discussion. My heart goes out to everyone having a challenging recovery. By saying " I'm done" I only meant that I was done with PT, pain meds, and hospitals. Last year was stressful for my family medically. I am hoping that I don't have to see the inside of a hospital for a long time. I have to recover quickly in order to take care of everyone else. I am not rushing my recovery, I firmly believe that God has given me the strength and stamina to get thru anything. Again, good luck to all for a speedy and stress filled recovery.

no nothing to to where they are done , people vary thats all , I had a friend who had very little pain , only on panadol , I didnt have a spinal either , but nerve block wore off in 24 hours . I was told by my first surgeon age can have something to do with pain levels

you are very very fortunate! My surgery was in Southern California So I’m not sure that the US versus European countries make all the difference. I have a cousin who had the same type of experience you have had. You are extremely fortunate. I am 6 weeks out & still in a lot of pain. Maybe the surgeon has something to do with it and I do believe every body heals differently. Be thankful you're among the fortunate who got out unscathed.
