I am from England studying abroad in America and was admitted to hospital with a fall whilst drunk

I was admitted to hospital at 1am the other night where I had my blood drawn and a CT scan I do not remember any of this happening as the reason I was brought to hospital is because I slipped in the bathroom and hit my head on the sink. I was drunk but remember the night prior. I am not going to be covered by my insurance but nor did I sign saying I wanted a CT scan or to be treated. Do you think I will be able to try and not pay for the scan when I was in no fit state to consent as I was concussed and intoxicated.

Well..if they have an address for you...you will just constantly be harrased by getting billed..and that is about it.

I'm in America...years ago I was admitted to the hospital...after I said "no ambulance"...and no I cant afford it...they took me anyway...in an ambulance...gave me stitches...I recieved a bill for years and I kept tossing it in the garbage...they have a fund in America that after a certain number of years for trying to gain money back from medical..if not paid..this fund pays it....I don't remember how many years it took to "dismiss" my bill...

However, I had additional visits with that hospital to be treated for other things...during the time the bill was active...they would ask me if I could make a payment...I would say "no" I can't...nothing came of it...and they are obligated to treat you if you are in a hospital.

So don't lose sleep over it.  What I would lose sleep over...is the "fall" and how dangerous it is and how badly you could have been hurt. Trust me...I'm not judging you..I'm an alcoholic and I have had many dangerous events due to over drinking..life doesn't get any longer..we have to take care of what we have left sad

    Hope you feel better soon.

Good advice from Missy. Be careful from now on perhaps try to drink less. You will feel better and remember. You are still very young.
