Ian, if it's any help, some years ago when I mentioned to my Yoga teacher that I couldn't do certain exercises because I had spondylolisthesis (slippage of the base of my spine) for which the only option was spinal fusion if I ever felt the need to go down that route, she said she'd had that operation some years before and here she was bending herself into all the yoga poses!  I think you need to follow the advice of your consultant after the surgery.  I have a friend in Australia who is at present recovering from this op too.  Hope all goes well for ou next week.

Hi Mrs0 thanks for your reply

My consultant hasn't given me definite yes/no but has told me it is major surgery .L4/5 decompression with right sidedTLIF and l5/S1 dynamic stabilisation and decompression. This injury is work related so I am looking into other avenues this will be life changing I have worked all my life so sitting about for months will be hard

Aaah, so if it's a worked-related injury, then hopefully you won't need to be too worried about returning to the same job?  And yes, although I'm not a medic, I'm sure that although the op will prove life-changing for a while, it is only "for a while", and you will be able to walk and exercise eventually (crucial anyway I would think) with no need to be "sitting around for months".  Is there not an aftercare package in place for advice about exercise from a physio for instance?

    Hi,

I think this is sometimes can be done by keyhole technique.Trouble with spinal you can have 2/3 conditions too.
