A few years ago, a highly recommended pharmacist advised me that the blood pressure pill, Losartan Potassium, is the one about which he receives the least complaints. My body is intolerant of, and reacts badly to, a whole range of BP meds (have now tried 8), and Losartan has certainly been the one I have succeeded on for the longest. However, it hasn't proved successful in reducing my high BP so a second pill is always being tried alongside, and the latest one to be added(Doxazosin) triggered a 24 hour all over body itch, particularly stressful at night when I would awake scratching and drawing blood. A dermatologist carried out a skin biopsy and the lab report confirmed that adding Doxazosin to the Losartan had triggered the side effect. The former was stopped several weeks ago and the itch disappeared with only a slight reminder now and again.
But in view of my pharmacist's comments, Losartan is perhaps one to try if you haven't already taken it.

chris21802...considering you've been taking Amlodipine for a few years, I hardly think it's the cause of your muscle spasms or cramps. Ask yourself these questions...how long have you been having the spasms?...how long do they last..WHEN do they happen. Also, have you been doing anything different?
It may be a good idea for you to have your Dr. do an MRI or CT scan of your spine. I was having problems with burning, pins/needles, without explanation,
only to discver that I have disc problems in my back & neck.
