I recently got to know that I have a fibroid. I am in a thought of taking surgery after two years. How fast the fibroid will grow? Is surgery is compulsory 😅I am afraid about that.

No one can on this forum can tell you how fast the fibroid will grow. That's a conversation between you and the gynaecologist. Any other information you will need to talk to your gynaecologist

    Hi Meghana,

Yes, the first step is for you to see your OB/Gyn.  There are treatment options to consider with the help of your doctor.  Don't be afraid, you are doing the right thing by addressing it very early.  This forum is very great for support and basic information.

    Hi Meghan,

I'm 26, soon to be 27 - and have a 15cm fibroid. Although everyone is different, and everyone's fibroids grow at different paces/sizes, I can only go by my own experience.

From when I first found my Fibroid In July 2017, my fibroid had grown at least 10 cms in 3-4 months. Sounds scary, however, in the last 6 months it hasn't grown at all but I suppose its at its peak as its very noticeable in my stomach now.

I have my operation date for the 28th March, and it is a very scary thought, any surgery is - however, there have been so many woman that have the procedure, and its been the best thing they have ever done. There are other options you can take, as your fibroid is still fairly small, there is medication that you could try to shrink the fibroid, or if you aren't getting any symptoms and feel comfortable to not go through surgery, then you have the right to not have any surgery at all. I know someone who has lived with their fibroid for a number of years and isn't willing to have surgery to remove it (although she is only 35). But the decision is yours and yours only. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

This forum has been amazing, I follow a lot of discussions which have helped a lot with other peoples experience and advice on what to take into hospital if you do go down the surgery route - but if you want a professionals opinion, speak to a gynaecologist smile

Good luck with whatever decision you make smile
