Hi everybody! I am 30 years old woman married to 50 years old african american man. He has kids from previous marriage. I dont have any kids. We really want a child. We were talking about that a lot lately. But i seen an article few days ago about couples with big difference in age and when man is after 50. It says that its 65% chance for a baby to have some genetic disoders sad it got me very stressed and upset.. i wonder how true is it? We are both very healthy no health issues whatsoever. I will really appreciate anyones response, people who knows or may be dealt with the issue. Thank you

Your best bet would be to talk to a pediatrician or prehaps a genetic doctor on those statistics, and no matter the age there are possiblities for anyone. My first thought is autism, as it's shown that a large age gap between parents (regardless of which gender is older) is associated with an increase in autism, but again statistics are overall, not necessarily what will happen to you. Just know the risks and make a decision from there. Babies are always a blessing, regardless of any diagnosis, you will love and treasure that gift given to you. Best wishes!

    Hi girl,

well... there must be a lot of could that have late children and they are healthy. if there is not genetic disorder in both your family it is less likely that your child comes with genetic problem.

Well to verify how reliable the 65% is, best to check if the new come from a medical source and on how many people they did the survey.

Sometimes survey are lazily done and information are not reliable... few months later other institution come out with opposit finding for the some subject.

So not to worry that much

    good luck
