I have always had pain throughout the four years of PMR.  Not always unbearable, but always there.  The bruising can be part of the pred intake - I have it on my legs and arms only (but usually if I am on 9-10 mgs - I'm on 7 mgs at the moment and the bruising has settled down).

Weight gain is usual with pred for many people. Cutting carbs does seem to help. Your PMR pain with pred should be about 70% better than without it - some people are almost pain-free, others are never pain-free. Otherwise the question is whether you are on a high enough dose to manage the symptoms as well as possible - and are YOU managing your side of the job? The pred manages the inflammation - you have to also contribute by managing your activity. Google the spoons theory by Christine Miseriando - are you managing your spoons well?

Eileen, I have just read the spoons theory you mentioned.  What a brilliant idea of C M's.  Whoever else would have thought of 'spoons' to indcate daily life with an illness/disability.  This should be put onto the PMR site.

However did you come across this article?

Hope everything is going well for you.

      Greetings from Constance

I'm fairly sure it IS on the PMRGCAUK northeast site, or a link at least  - and it is regularly recommended by them to new members. Which is where I got it from.
