    Hi Sandy,

    It is difficult.

Are you happy with your physio?

    Was surgeon happy with everything?

If in doubt get professional help.

Keep doing your best at the exercises, just what you're able for at the moment. And take the pain killers.

Try to keep the head up and keep going it will come good.

    God Bless,

    Alan

Sandy. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.  Seems recovery isn’t so easy for some of us. I hope the manipulation helps

I have been thru this 5 times all on the same L knee and on Monday I will be getting it done again. There is nothing about this that is easy as far as recovery goes, its a long and painful process. You have good days and you have days where you feel like you cannot take it any more. You can read information on what is supposed to happen when and see others that are doing better all that does is make it worse. One thing you have to remember there is no one that is exactly like you, you will heal but on your bodies schedule no one else's. Yes I am well aware there are days that it hurts bad enough you just want to scream and the pain just stays constant day after day. Its no big deal your only at 74 yes when they bend your knee it is going to hurt but as long as you continue to do your exercises ( and do not over do it!!!! ) given time it will get better. There will be days when you do too much you will pay for it, on a nice day if I walk to far do to much yard work etc my knee will let me know in no uncertain terms. Trust me you will get thru it this will be my 6th time same knee and even though the thought of going thru this again is driving me nuts I will get thru it.

    Have faith.

      Hi

I was wondering why you have had the same operation on the same knee so many times? I’ve seen that a few times on here by others. Once was enough for me rtkr done March 26-2018. Still limping and not have the bend I thought I would have at this point. I’m 106. Going back to work on the 18th. Been out doing errands today. I’m wiped out!

Hi!  So sorry you are no dot improving. After 6 months I am just feeling slightly better. I had a manipulation on 1 knee  a month ago and it helped. The bend is better, but still so much more swollen than the other. I feel it was worth it because my walking has also improved. Still need to do strengthening on my quads so that I can get up and down stairs and up from a chair.  PT helps, but you also need to do exercises on your own.  As one of your replies mentioned everyone heals differently and In their own time. You will have good and bad days and it does get depressing. Hang in there.

I totally get it.  I got so depressed after 3 weeks cause I wasn’t getting the bend I needed and the pain and swelling was getting to me. I cried for two days and then thanks to this group I realized I was doing the bedt i can. Still struggling with stiffness and pain but taking it day by day.  Thank you to all of you who are here.

I did very little exercising with mine as it was just too painful , I would bend it in bed , pull it towards me , and straighten it pushing down . Even though I had little or no rehab I can move it fine , I think sometimes going slowly is better and doesn’t affect outcome , I found a lot of pain up until 7-8 wks then I was able to taper off morphine  based tablets , but right from first week I would go out and have a coffee ! With crutches , then spend most of my time in bed for rest of day , be up all night because of pain, thank goodness for Netflix! I didn’t do what I was supposed to but as I said my bend is good . I just wasn’t going to force it when it was so sore
