I am sooooo stressed

What with it being Christmas and the bad weather I am climbing the wall. It's MIL birthday tomorrow (81st) and we are supposed to be going for a meal tomorrow evening. She lives 20 miles away and the pub she has booked is in the country and at the top of a hill. She is talking about cancelling it but that would be such a shame as she would be alone for her birthday. Also I am supposed to be doing the cooking for Christmas Day and Boxing Day and I am in a panic that there will be no fresh veg available when I go shopping. How daft is that. I shall be so glad when Christmas is over. Weight-wise I stayed the same this week sad Sorry for rambling.

It would be a shame to cancel but I can see where she is coming from because of the weather. We've not got much snow at the mo but it is slippery and very cold, too cold to snow I think; when it did snow it looked like polysterine balls. I'm hoping to go see my sister before Christmas and on the 27th but she lives a good hour and half away in a village where the roads get really bad. I was hping to help her do her Christmas shopping as she is ill and needs help. My daughter lives in Sheffield and we can't pick her up until teatime Thursday as she doesn't finish work til then so hope conditions don't deteriate like they have elsewhere in the country.

I don't drive so feel hemmed in and frustrated because I want to finish the shopping but have to rely on my husband who doesn't understand why I get stressed - he is so laid back he is nearly horizontal and is no help organising Christmas - I'm still waiting for him to get decorations out of the loft.

Hope you get to celebrate your MIL's birthday and get the rest of your shopping done.

Have you got lots of snow?

Hi Trying Hard - we've got about 3 inches of snow and it is still falling. Probably not as bad as some parts of the country but our road hasn't been gritted. The main roads are probably OK. Sorry your hubby is not more helpful with the Christmas chores. Mine organised all the present buying so I am very lucky.

Oh dear, I hope you and anyone else with problems due to the snow are able to get everything they need to done for Christmas. The main roads in Swindon are not too bad but it's getting out of the estate that's a problem.

we had to cancel the family meal out for my sons 5th b/day, lucky we had a friends party on the 11th as saw on another forum that a little girl had a party on Saturday and only 2 people managed to turn up sad.

I've placed a Tesco's order for delivery tomorrow and praying that that turns up but have been walking to the local Sainsbury's and buying what I can then just deleting it off the Tesco order.

We order exotic meat for Christmas dinner and this is the first time in 10years that we have had the order cancelled due to the weather so have just bought a 3 bird roast from Sainsburys.

Have managed to get most of the Christmas dinner trimmings if Tescos order doesn't turn up so not stressing to much.

I'm sure no one is going to be concerned about dinner and what they do or don't have. Try and relax a bit more, there are just some things in life you have no control over the weather being one so just do your best and it will all come together in the end. x
