I haven't slept in nearly 24 hours! I'm starting to get scared! Really scared! I'm not tired! I feel weak and drowsy, but I'm not tired! I'm so scared!! I'm freaking out! I don't want to be 3 days without sleep like some people! My mind is empty, low heart rate but I can't fall asleep!! Heeelp! :'(

I'm thinking the worst! Like ffi!

    Here's what's happening to you.

    1) You're worrying about falling asleep

    2) This worrying is causing you to feel scared

    3) When you feel scared, your body increases its adrenaline (cortisol) to combat this "danger".

    4) With the added adrenaline rush, it's making it very difficult for you to relax then fall asleep.

I've been dealing with somniphobia for over 13 years.

    Here's some helpful tips:

    1) Slow your mind down. Racing thoughts are the work of the devil. Don't think about what might happen in the future. Live in the present.

    2) Once you're able to slow your mind, think about gently falling asleep.

    3) Do NOT place a time limit on how fast you should fall asleep. If it takes 3 hours, so be it. In the meantime, think of something or someone that makes you smile. Positive thoughts only.

You may be tired, but you're not going to die from lack of sleep. Remember, people in wartime situations can go several days without sleep. Hang in there and maintain a positive attitude. You will overcome this problem.

We will all die at sometime in our lives, sorry that is part of life and we accept that contract before we are born. Look at it this way, the two most intensive periods of life is birth and death, both periods of life are the two stages we all go through. We may be frightened, there is nothing yo can do about it , live your life and enjoy your time on this world

The sensations of falling asleep are all well known, you have explained them well above. The only reason you are freaking out is caused by your Anxiety.

I remember talking to a nurse in a Nursing home, She explained they had a client that was in palliative care and was frightened She was going to die. She would not lye down to sleep because of the fear of death and ould walk around the home refusing too sleep eventually after two days exhausted She sat down and died, She had been called and She had caught the last bus, He seat was researved for He and she departed at the right time, she had no choice

hen it comes down to heart rate, that is depended on what you are doing, from running to sitting or eating yor heart rate ill change because it is dependent on the activity you are undertaking..

You are anxious and you need to understand the sensations you feel on a daily basis, if you do not eventually learn the signs of your life signs you will be unable to process what is a problem and what is not

You need to consider why you worry and so anxious and then enjoy your  life

This happenend to my sister she was up like week straight and had to go to doctors they can prescribe a sedative just for couple of days to get you sleeping again and try to get you into sleeping pattern again.. but exactly as someone says above you full of adrenaline and cortisol with your fears and worries your body won't relax until you can try your best to change your thinking and I know this is hard.. have you got some support like family you can rely on or close friend to help you while your at your worst sometimes reassurance and love and support can help keep you mind calm so you can come down from this.. hope you feel better soon..

have you considered taking something from your doctor for sleep? what are you scared of that has you so shook up? are you currently seeing a doctor and if you are whats his take on your situation?

i really think you may want to consider an ER visit or perhaps a doctor visit before you get lost in your own head. not sleeping really stinks and its definitely affecting you, but you have to know that you have to look for the help, the help will not come looking for you.
